Riung sits on the north coast of Flores in Ngada Regency, inside the Taman Wisata Perairan Tujuh Belas Pulau Riung. The boats are local, the water is calm, and on most days you will share the islands with almost nobody.
The realistic base is Bajawa, 71 km away — which sounds close and is not. The road takes three and a half to six hours depending on conditions, so Riung is a stop on an overland route rather than an excursion from anywhere.
From Labuan Bajo it is roughly 336 km and a full day of driving. Treat it as part of the crossing, paired with Bajawa or Ende, not as a day out.
