What a charter is
Exclusivity, and what it actually changes
A yacht charter is the whole vessel and its crew for the duration — cabins, deck, tenders and route. There is no manifest of strangers and no fixed departure list.
What that buys in practice is timing and pace: Padar before the day boats arrive, Manta Point on the right tide, and an afternoon that stops when your group has had enough rather than when the schedule says.
Charters are quoted per boat per night. Below about four travellers that is expensive per head; from six up it often costs little more than shared cabins would.

A 3D2N charter typically runs Padar and a dragon walk, Pink Beach and a snorkel, then a final reef before disembarking early on day three.

Usually separate:
Komodo National Park entrance and conservation fees, alcohol, dive tanks and dive guide, airport transfers, and crew gratuities.

- Three meals a day plus drinking water, cooked aboard.
- Snorkelling equipment and the use of tenders.

Catamarans are genuinely scarce in this fleet — a handful of vessels against dozens of phinisi. They roll less and suit travellers worried about seasickness, but availability is quoted per charter rather than listed.

How much is a Komodo yacht charter?
Per boat, per night. Boutique phinisi from around USD 1,800; entry-luxury from around USD 5,300; flagship vessels quoted individually within a published fleet span reaching USD 30,000.
How many days should we charter?
Two to four nights for a first visit. Two makes Padar sunrise and one manta attempt realistic; four adds the quieter reefs and a slower pace.
What is included?
Vessel, crew, all cabins, meals, water, snorkel gear, tenders and fuel for the agreed route. Park fees, alcohol, dive tanks and transfers are usually separate.
Is a charter worth it for two people?
Rarely on cost alone. Below about four travellers a private cabin on a shared boat is better value; from six up the maths changes.
Can we build a wellness or dive charter?
Yes. Say so at enquiry — it changes the crew, the equipment carried and sometimes the vessel.
What should we pack?
Soft bag rather than a hard case, reef-safe sunscreen, a light layer for the night deck, motion-sickness tablets and a dry bag for tender transfers.
Where does the charter start?
Labuan Bajo harbour. The desk confirms the jetty and boarding time the day before.
Can the route change once aboard?
Within reason, yes — that is the point of chartering. Tide, swell and park rules still set the outer limits, and the captain has the final say on safety.
