Private Flores Tours: Tailor-Made Itineraries

Your own car, your own driver-guide, and dates you choose rather than a fixed departure list. The route is built around what you actually want to see.

From roughly US$110 per person per day, falling as the group grows.

What private means

Not a smaller group tour — no group at all

Stops chosen because you asked for them.

A private tour means the vehicle, the driver-guide and the itinerary belong to your booking alone. There is no shared minivan, no fixed departure date, and no stop list you have to accept because eleven other people did.

What that changes in practice is pace. You can spend two hours at Cancar because the light is good, skip a stop nobody wanted, or start at 04:00 for the Kelimutu rim without negotiating it with strangers.

The cost per person falls as the group grows, because the car and the guide are shared across your own party rather than across a manifest.

How planning works

Four exchanges, then a driver

The itinerary is rebuilt until it fits rather than picked off a shelf.

  1. Send the brief

Dates, group size, entry and exit airports, and what you actually care about seeing.

  2. Receive a draft

A day-by-day route with hotels named, drive times stated honestly, and a per-person price.

  3. Revise it

Add Riung, drop a village, reverse the direction, change a hotel. This step is expected, not an imposition.

  4. Confirm

A deposit holds the car and the rooms; the driver-guide’s contact arrives before pick-up day.

Just the car

Or hire the driver without the itinerary

If you would rather plan the route yourself, a private driver and vehicle can be booked by the day at a published rate, with no itinerary attached.

Private tour questions

Asked before every custom brief

Cost, pace and how much can really be changed.

For the full set, see our FAQ — 135 questions answered.

How much does a private Flores tour cost?

Indicatively from around US$110 per person per day for two travellers sharing, falling per head as the group grows. Flights, park fees and personal expenses are quoted separately.

Can I really change the itinerary?

Yes — that is the product. Routes are redrafted until they fit, including after you have seen the first version.

How far ahead should I book?

Four to eight weeks in the July–August peak, less in the shoulder months. Wae Rebo overnight slots are the tightest constraint.

Is a private tour worth it for two people?

On mountain roads with a fixed schedule, usually yes. Below two the maths is harder; above four it is clearly cheaper per head than repeated day tours.

Do you drive at night?

Mountain sections are avoided after dark as a rule. Itineraries are built to arrive before dusk, which is part of why daily distances are capped.

Can we start in Ende or Maumere?

Yes. Eastbound suits travellers who want Kelimutu early or who are flying out of Labuan Bajo at the end.

What is not included?

Flights, travel insurance, national park entrance fees, personal expenses, and lunches and dinners where the itinerary leaves them open.

Who actually operates the tour?

Komodo Luxury, the licensed operator in our group. This guide publishes the planning research and does not run vehicles.
